Heather Ault is the Founder and Principal Designer of Del Sur Designs, a San Diego–based interior design studio specializing in thoughtfully planned residential and commercial interiors.

​

Heather's approach is rooted in an unconventional foundation: before turning to interiors, she taught art and studied art history, training that shaped how she still sees every room today. Proportion, composition, and the relationship between light and material aren't abstractions to her; they're the same principles that govern a painting, applied to lived space. That background, paired with a bachelor's degree in interior design and more than two decades in practice, gives her a disciplined eye for architectural intent and a fluency in materials that most designers develop through practice alone.

She leads projects from concept through completion, providing clear direction and thoughtful oversight at every stage. Her process balances creative vision with technical precision, and rather than chasing trends, she prioritizes designs that age gracefully, visually, functionally, and emotionally.

Under her leadership, Del Sur Designs has completed a diverse portfolio of projects throughout California, collaborating closely with architects, builders, and artisans. Clients are drawn to Heather for her calm authority and her ability to guide complex decisions with confidence and discretion, translating ambitious ideas into spaces that feel effortless and entirely their own.

Heather lives in Point Loma, where she spends her time outside the studio tending a backyard full of dogs, chickens, gardens and fruit trees. She has also studied dance for many years and continues to take lessons today, a discipline that mirrors her own sense of how people move through a room. That same instinct for rhythm, and for making a space feel rooted and well-tended, is what she brings to every home she designs.
